Welcome to our blog!

This is where the fun begins outside of the Theme Parks! A little bit of the real Florida and a taste of what this part of America is all about (& what many people unfortunately do not necessarily get to see).  Florida was once known as "a most inhospitable place" and is now one of the top travel destinations in the world.  Delve a little deeper here to see unique things this State has to offer...

Cocoa Beach...

To follow on from last weeks blog, I thought it would be great to continue onto what else Cocoa Beach has to offer😊 It is probably the easiest beach to get to if you’re staying in Orlando for a mostly theme park vacation and is very family friendly.

The City really has made such a great effort to clean up after last year’s hurricane – and rightly so… Daytona Beach really doesn’t look worthy right now and so I scrubbed featuring them on my blog for the time being☹

I am photographing a couple of families at the beach here over the next couple of weeks and found this nifty web page to direct them for parking which can be found here.

There is a varied number of restaurants along the A1A here and leading into Cocoa Beach. A favorite of ours (& I know it’s a chain, but we like the location & fills a basic need for most people!), is Applebee’s. It overlooks one of the causeways and is nice to go before you get in the sand! There is also a Publix supermarket here if you wanted to just pick up some groceries for an instant picnic on the beach. Another place we like to visit is Coconuts on the Beach – we’ve even been known just to order some fries to take with us.

The pier attracts a livelier crowd, but if you want something a little quieter there is Lori Wilson Park just a little south. As this beach is a little quieter it attracts some more birds and wildlife together with a small nature trail. There is quite a lot of free parking available, but it is popular so get here early, and there are some decent restrooms too.

Although I’ve never been there are kayak tours and rentals near cocoa and you can find one of them here.

There’s also a couple of miniature golf courses here – Golf N Gator and Lighthouse Cove. It’s been a while since we’ve visited and so wouldn’t like to comment although both have good reviews.

If you wanted to do more than fish from the pier here, you can always take a charter boat. Once again, I’ve never done it, but I’ve found a neat website here to help you find one to meet your needs.

We love visiting Cocoa Beach – we’ve had a lot of good times and made many memories here.
